Appeal Priority Dates
Fall: August 1st
Spring: December 15th
Summer : June 15th
Submit your appeal form and documentation as soon as possible. Appeals received after this date will be reviewed. However, aid may not be approved for appeals submitted after the end of a term.
The United States Department of Education mandates that students maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward completion of their degrees within a reasonable period of time to be eligible for Title IV financial aid programs, including Pell and Federal Direct Student Loans.
Below is a list of requirements to maintain SAP:
- Grade point average- Students must achieving and maintain at least a 2.00 grade point average
- Pace of progression- Passing a required number of hours (67% of all hours attempted)
- EXAMPLE: If the total credits attempted in the fall equal 15 credit hours, then the student must pass 10 credit hours or more to maintain 66.67% completion rate. (15 attempted credits x .67= 10 credit hours)
- Maximum time-frame- Total overall hours must not exceed 150% of the published length of a student’s degree program.
- EXAMPLE: If the total credits in the student’s degree plan are 60 hours, then the 150% maximum is 90. (60 x 1.5= 90)

A mitigating circumstance is an unusual or unexpected event beyond the student's control.
Multiple appeals for the same mitigating circumstance(s) are not allowed.
- Explain why you failed to meet satisfactory academic progress.
- Explain what has changed in your situation that will allow you to make satisfactory progress at the next evaluation period. You may indicate the steps you have taken to attempt to remove the circumstances and if the circumstances have in fact been removed.
Submitted Appeals will be reviewed within 15 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) of receipt.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that financial aid will be reinstated.
